Thailand’s Samak devotes talk show to self defense

On Sunday Thailand’s Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej devoted a significant portion of his weekly talk show to defending his actions during last weeks grilling by the Senate and the house of Parliament. In no uncertain terms, Samak has a difficult time with reality of his actions and how others see them.

One of the first things Samak did was attack a mental health professional who made an assessment:

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej urged the Medical Council to take action against a doctor, who is a Democrat Party MP, for making a psychoanalysis on him during the censure debate last week.

Samak said Doctor Malinee Sukvejworakij apparently breached medical ethic during the censure debate by making psychoanalysis on his character.

The doctor said Samak was not fit for the post of prime minister because he lacked maturity and acted like a child by drinking sweet drink and eating cake.

Samak argued during his Talk Samak Style program Sunday that the House provided only sweet drinks for MPs so he had no other choices.

Unfortunately for Samak, the assessment was accurate, and his anger and desire to attack the professional opinion about him about it simply supports it. To not be able to control anger is a sign of immaturity.

Samak also defended his desire to make paper cranes during his censure debate;

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej said he has been folding paper cranes while listening to House debates since he was young.

During his live talk program on NBT channel, Samak said he would like to tell his critics that there was nothing wrong with the paper crane folding because he concentrated on hearing the debates while folding the papers.

Unfortunately Samak seems to have forgotten the body language of not caring that goes along with folding paper cranes during a major government censure debate on the future of the government and the future of Thailand.

Samak also made a point about the media’s comments on what clearly is a common sense decision to do some work on the Cabinet lineup.

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej said  that he will not reshuffle Cabinet in a way suggested by newspapers.

“I won’t allow myself to be dictated by newspapers,” Samak said. “Let’s wait and see whether the newspapers will lose face after their prediction on my Cabinet reshuffle turns wrong,” Samak said during his Talk Samak Style program.

It seems a lot of Samak’s comments and attitudes support Doctor Malinee Sukvejworakij assessment. The next week should be interesting at the very least.
