Samak acting out of character

In Thailand with the Government house under siege by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and seemingly everything caving in around Samak Sundaravej’s government, Samak seems unusually calm and very much out of character. Political correctness double standard

In what appears to be a double standard with political correctness around the wife of John Edwards, what is a private matter between husband and wife is being dragged through the mud by others. If the purpose of political correctness was meant to not hurt someone’s feelings, then this attack on a woman who has incurable cancer about a personal family matter is clearly not politically correct. In fact even if there was no political correctness, this may be hitting below the belt. The fact that it comes from people inside the political circle makes it even more interesting. [Read more →]

Once the Olympic spotlight is turned off in China, there is every indication that China’s self imposed temporary restraint will end. China did what can only be described as ingesting poison during the Olympic games. In the eyes of China freedom of speech is seen as poison, and there were more than subtle hints in the media China was very uncomfortable swinging to be as open as it was during the last 3 or 4 weeks. Now that time is ending and what can be expected is the pendulum swinging the other way, and that means arrests and more. [Read more →]
