Criminal breast feeding

Breast Feeding

Every now and then you come across a story that leaves you emotionally fired up. However when reading this story, it is difficult to say what emotion that would be.

Aside from breast feeding being simply the most natural thing in the world a mother can do, it makes your head spin that someone would have the balls to challenge this based on what the mother consumed before feeding her baby.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota woman accused of breast-feeding her 6-week-old baby while drunk has pleaded guilty to child neglect.

Twenty-six-year-old Stacey Anvarinia could face up to five years in prison when she’s sentenced on the felony charge in August.

Judge Sonja Clapp says Anvarinia will not have to register as an offender against children.

Police officers who responded to a domestic disturbance call at Anvarinia’s home on April 13 say they saw an intoxicated Anvarinia breast feeding. Health officials say alcohol consumed by breast-feeding mothers can be absorbed into an infant’s system.

Attorneys believe it’s the first such case prosecuted in North Dakota.

Now lets take a look at this for a moment. This is just the foot in the door. It is well known a mother will pass what is in her body along to her nursing baby, that includes everything. So at some point someone has taken onto themselves to regulate breast milk and make it a criminal offence if it is non compliant. So let us consider what things may be next if this is allowed to continue.

First off there are way too many people taking psychiatric drugs like Xanax, Prozac and so on. So certainly that can taint breast milk by passing that along to the infant who most certainly does not need to have their mind messed with by a psychiatrist. Certainly that can easily fall in the same category as alcohol.

If that is a bit of a push, lets get a little closer to nature. Lets say the nursing mother just ate peanuts or peanut products and it is unknown if the infant may be allergic to peanuts. So under the same doctrine that too will be a crime as well as there may be a possibility of sending the infant into shock with peanut tainted breast milk.

So you can see there is no end to this and it simply goes way too far. At worst case the mother should have been advised and allow her to decide. To be arrested and face a possible 5 years in jail for breast feeding is just absurd. This is just another one of those things that answers why some people come back with guns shooting and killing for having someone go a bit too far. Next on deck is the criminalizing of certain sexual intercourse positions that could harm an unborn baby if this keeps up.
