  • 2018 in review

Posted on December 28, 2018 12:02 am by Richard

If you did not raise your eyebrows in 2018 with things going on as they were, you may have been in a coma. From the disintegration of Donald Trump, to journalists being murdered, to everything else coming off the rails, 2018 will go down as a year of firsts where good vs bad took center stage. • Women using sex as leverage coming to an end

Posted on September 18, 2017 12:02 am by Richard

The days of women using sex as leverage seem to be coming to an end, and that is not by the choice of women. Advancements in technology is in the process of providing men with option ‘B’ to take care of their sexual needs imposed by nature. To say that will have an influence on the structure of society is simply an understatement. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

After waiting over 4 months to see what Google would do, we decided to send a reply to them. But as it would be when we went to look for the tool to do that, it was no place to be found. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

As predicted in Part 13 of this series, we now have Part 14. Our first reaction was that of a big smile, and the realization that some people that work for Google don’t venture more than a 1 hour drive from home. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

Having a narcissist leading the country is a new experience for Americans. But in the case of Connecting the Dots we have had years of experience outside of the United States. What that means is we know what to expect and what will likely come next. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

Posted on September 19, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

    2006 coup

It was perhaps the most real-time documented Coup d’état in history. Hundreds of ex-pats were posting on a popular internet forum what was going on outside there window, and the server was swamped. The one thing that was noticed was the Thai People were all for the military intervention, and fear was replaced with sighs of relief and celebration in the coming days. Other changes were being seen as well as even some Thai monks were being seduced off the path of monkhood. This however for the most part is still seen as scandalous as Thais have not forgotten their roots, but simply see it as use as needed. If a Thai goes upcountry they emulate the behavior of their parents and people in their village. So that says the behavior seen in the urban areas is much about emulation to fit in as well. Posted on September 8, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

The taste of what was beyond Thailand continued to be intoxicating. Thais began to realize that there were huge differences in income between Thailand and the west. The encouragement of the Thai Government to become more intergraded into a global economy was also pushing change in Thai culture. Thais that saw many foreigners as being rich were discovering that those foreigners had just average income in their home countries. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

Posted on September 7, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Things were changing so quickly in or around 2006 the Thai Government set the Ministry of Culture into less of a passive position and into a much more aggressive posture to try to stem the change. However most Thais saw that as being both outdated and also being intrusive into their lives. It seemed the ministry was not trying to wind things back to 1999, it seemed they were targeting 1899 and that caused the Ministry to be widely ignored. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

With the onset of this influence that looked Thai but was not, the behavior observed was slowly being integrated into rural Thailand. The desire for wealth in a predominantly poor sector of society was overriding the teaching of Buddhism for moderation. That change became the catalyst for change in Thai culture. Classic Thai culture

Cultural change for the most part is gradual. The way people guide their lives and make choices is largely influenced by culture. It can take centuries or more for cultural behavior to evolve noticeably. However in the case of Thailand, cultural change since the turn of the millennium has been much more than the entire proceeding millennium. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

A solid month had passed since we were told we were in violation of Google’s AdSense policy, and we have heard nothing. As with most people we don’t like being left in limbo so we decided to see if there was some way to get things moving. As it would be we did find a roundabout way to contact Google, so that is exactly what we did. Continue reading → Post ID 16370

Posted on August 19, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Connecting the Dots has been silent on Thai politics for some time. The reason for this is since the 2014 Coup, what has been going on in Thailand politically has been 100% a Thai thing. So we were very content to make it a spectator event as there was things to be learned from it. But now that the Thai people have had had their first say about things in over two years, we thought it would be a good time to see what they said. Continue reading → Post ID 16370
