  • Coup d’état in Thailand 10 years on

Posted on September 19, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

    2006 coup

It was perhaps the most real-time documented Coup d’état in history. Hundreds of ex-pats were posting on a popular internet forum what was going on outside there window, and the server was swamped. The one thing that was noticed was the Thai People were all for the military intervention, and fear was replaced with sighs of relief and celebration in the coming days. • Thailand’s rapidly changing culture Part 5

Posted on September 9, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Other changes were being seen as well as even some Thai monks were being seduced off the path of monkhood. This however for the most part is still seen as scandalous as Thais have not forgotten their roots, but simply see it as use as needed. If a Thai goes upcountry they emulate the behavior of their parents and people in their village. So that says the behavior seen in the urban areas is much about emulation to fit in as well. • Thailand’s rapidly changing culture Part 3

Posted on September 7, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Things were changing so quickly in or around 2006 the Thai Government set the Ministry of Culture into less of a passive position and into a much more aggressive posture to try to stem the change. However most Thais saw that as being both outdated and also being intrusive into their lives. It seemed the ministry was not trying to wind things back to 1999, it seemed they were targeting 1899 and that caused the Ministry to be widely ignored. Continue reading → Post ID 15871

  • Republican Party establishment’s behavior fueling Donald Trump

Posted on March 21, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

    GOP Bad behavior

Arrogant, self-serving and out of touch are all things that accurately describe the elite of the Republican Party. It is the same behavior that caused congress to stall, and it is the same behavior that is fueling the desire to find a presidential candidate from outside of the Republican establishment’s box. • Thai Junta vs Human Nature

Posted on October 29, 2015 12:02 am by Richard

When the Thai military staged a Coup in 2014, they enjoyed nearly 70% support from Thais because they were doing something that was seen as positive for Thailand. But now it seems they may be expanding their agenda and based on what that agenda is, they risk having the entire population turning on them as well as giving Thaksin ammunition to stage a comeback. • Thailand’s Martial law – the cork in the bottle

Posted on January 30, 2015 12:02 am by Richard

The USA sees Thailand’s martial law as stepping on freedom and democracy, and to some extent it is. But when you understand that Martial law is keeping want to be dictators and other trouble makers in check, it is suddenly viewed in a different light. Continue reading → Post ID 15871

Posted on January 27, 2015 12:02 am by Richard

Leading up to and after former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s impeachment, signs of fractures were becoming very obvious. To the trained eye, Thaksin Shinawatra either can not or will not keep his supporters on the same page and singing the same song. If the fractures are this obvious to the media, what is really going on behind close doors must be Thai drama at it’s finest. Continue reading → Post ID 15871

Posted on November 27, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

When Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said no more news coverage of Thaksin Shinawatra, it was a huge blow for Thaksin. Thaksin was finding his way into Thai news for the most trivial of things and on the front page no less. But now there is just a trickle from media outside of Thailand, so Thaksin has upped his game. • The good side of Thaksin Shinawatra

Posted on July 7, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

For the most part, people that are Anti-Thaksin would have a hard time with the title of this entry, and an even harder time trying to read it without rolling their eyes or spouting out colorful words. But the fact of the matter is there is a good side to everything as even the most vile creatures of nature have a reason and a place. This entry looks to set out and explore how Thaksin fits into that mix. Continue reading → Post ID 15871

Posted on July 4, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

From outside of Thailand the title of this entry could easily cause a WTF. But if a person has been living in Thailand for the past year, they would see the title as an accurate assessment. So when you look at the response to the Coup by the United States and the European Union along with a few other countries, the people living in Thailand would be saying WTF is going on with them. Posted on June 30, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

The title of this entry should have a ? or an ! after it. The problem is we don’t know just yet witch one is the right one to use. In either case there is significant major activity by the Junta with a full on attack against corruption and graft because things are all coming to a head and Thailand’s face is at stake. Posted on June 27, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Seeing the more or less official launch of an Anti Thai Junta organization by Thaksin cronies, it leaves you wondering as to why this may happen seeing the present behavior of the Thai people is supportive of the Junta. The Thai people are clearly happier now after the Coup because of ending the ongoing damage being caused by the freshly ousted Pro-Thaksin Government. However if you understand the personalities of these cronies, you can understand the motivation behind this so called anti-Junta organization. Continue reading → Post ID 15871

Posted on June 20, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Since Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s Government came to power in 2011, the Red Shirts have been doing their best to bury their violent past. But because the Junta is not playing politics and they too were victims of Red Shirt violence, the Junta is mincing no words when it comes to talk about the Red Shirt’s behavior and the upcoming trials in criminal court related to the 2010 Red Shirt riots. Posted on June 11, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Seeing that Thaksin Shinawatra’s behavior will not be much different than in the past, addressing new things that he may not have encountered before requires a bit more thought. But in reality that is not much of an issue. The harder task is to anticipate what those new things may be in 4 to 6 months in the future. Continue reading → Post ID 15871
