  • Thai Government taming media

Posted on January 13, 2015 12:02 am by Richard

When you read the title of this entry it can both provoke anger and curiosity. But if you read into it and connect all the dots, you will start to see an encouraging shift towards more responsible journalism. The reason for this is some Thai journalists seem more interested in provoking a reaction than to presenting balanced reporting of the news. Continue reading → Post ID 15266

  • Thaksin’s cronies bruised egos on display

Posted on June 27, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Seeing the more or less official launch of an Anti Thai Junta organization by Thaksin cronies, it leaves you wondering as to why this may happen seeing the present behavior of the Thai people is supportive of the Junta. The Thai people are clearly happier now after the Coup because of ending the ongoing damage being caused by the freshly ousted Pro-Thaksin Government. However if you understand the personalities of these cronies, you can understand the motivation behind this so called anti-Junta organization. Continue reading → Post ID 15266

  • Let us off the hook Thai style

Posted on February 1, 2013 12:01 am by Richard

One of the things that keeps anybody from moving forward and bettering themselves is to simply reward their bad behavior. By removing the incentive to make self improvements and not punish bad behavior, Thailand slips a bit further behind every day. So when a given group threatens violence if they are not given amnesty, it does make you wonder a lot about what thinking is going on in the heads of these wrong doers. • Super cyber crime laws

Posted on October 11, 2012 6:03 pm by Richard

Unless you have been hiding in a box for the past 5 to 10 years, you would have noticed the gradual increase in laws that are meant to stop cyber crime. However the general wording of those laws also allows the suppression of free speech. It is this infringement on voices that has people up in arms. Continue reading → Post ID 15266

Posted on December 26, 2011 12:01 am by Richard

  • Is the overuse of the Lese majeste law Lese majeste

Posted on April 25, 2011 12:01 am by Richard

When Thailand’s Lese majeste law was created it was intended to protect the Royal family from a multitude of negativeness. However when you stop and think about it, if the Lese majeste law is overused for political gain or for control of certain groups, one does have to wonder if that itself is not Lese majeste by somehow lowing the Royal family into the fray of politics, personal gain, and power seeking. Posted on October 30, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

Once again it seems it is time to play the ‘Change the Constitution Game’ for money and prizes. And once again it all looks to boil down to falling short of mustering the agreement needed to make it happen. Continue reading → Post ID 15266

  • Thailand key long term reconciliation factor ignored

Posted on September 4, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

Bringing an end to the political divide in Thailand requires both long and short term planning. Unfortunately the key underlying factor is still being ignored, and that will simply repeat the process that could once again lead to violence. Continue reading → Post ID 15266

Posted on July 26, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

It has been growing ever since the day after the Red Shirt occupation in Bangkok was disbursed. The desire to come down hard on the Red Shirts and enforce the law is now dragging way too many innocent well meaning people into the gravity well of this political black hole. Posted on July 6, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

Stepping back and identifying what could be described as Lèse majesté actions, we see that it is indeed a network of people each doing a different task. As each task alone does not warrant being called a Lèse majesté action, collectively they do. Continue reading → Post ID 15266
