  • Thailand’s rapidly changing culture Part 3

Posted on September 7, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Things were changing so quickly in or around 2006 the Thai Government set the Ministry of Culture into less of a passive position and into a much more aggressive posture to try to stem the change. However most Thais saw that as being both outdated and also being intrusive into their lives. It seemed the ministry was not trying to wind things back to 1999, it seemed they were targeting 1899 and that caused the Ministry to be widely ignored. Continue reading → Post ID 15816

  • Pre-written news stories about Thailand and beyond Part 3

Posted on March 16, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

As seen in part 1 and 2, there are plenty of examples of people ignoring the facts and writing from what their preconceived conception tells them to write. Even journalists from the best newspapers sometimes fall prey to preconceived myths and write about them as if they were factual. Continue reading → Post ID 15816

  • Internet censorship laws are all about protecting criminals in power

Posted on February 10, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

The title of this entry is completely self-explanatory and requires little deep thinking to see the dots. The arguments for internet censorship by corrupt governments are on par with excuses smokers make to keep smoking. Continue reading → Post ID 15816

  • China’s ongoing reaction to Tiananmen Square protest shows fear

Posted on June 12, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

1989 is a distant memory for most people. Trying to recall what we did during that year requires some deep thought for most people who were born in 1980 or before. However with China’s over the top reaction when the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protest comes around, it tends to trigger an instant memory marker reminding people of exactly where they were in 1989 when they heard the news of the protest being violently put down by the Chinese Government. • Governments attacking social media implies something to hide

Posted on March 25, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Social media has become a powerful realtime tool to put a spotlight on politicians who seem to be stepping out of line. If there is nothing to hide then the day goes on without issues. If there is something to hide, the politician(s) in question will quickly look to unplug social media to attempt to hide what they do not want others to see. Continue reading → Post ID 15816

  • Pro Thaksin Government fear showing

Posted on August 14, 2013 12:01 am by Richard

When you look at most Governments they have now come to learn to respect the power of social media. For the Governments that are for the most part honest and transparent, their fear is minimal. But for Governments that are not doing what is in the best interest of the people they serve, you may notice a wet spot in their pants that has nothing at all to do with sex when social media starts after them.
