Finding Thai love online Part 1

There is no doubt the Internet has made the world a smaller place. Finding love beyond the borders of small town anywhere is as easy as pulling your credit card from your wallet. Finding love in Thailand is no different.

Talk to any man that has been to Thailand, and within the first few words from his mouth is at least one comment on the women and how stunningly attractive they are. The 1 – 10 scale men have in their heads on how they rate a woman on how attractive she is, a 10 rating on a women from the west may come in only a 5 when compared to Thai women. Add to that the vast majority of Thai women don’t have the attitude problem western women seem to have been born with. With all that to consider, there is a complete reset that happens inside the first few days. What was attractive back home in the west now becomes mediocre.

The reason Connecting the Dots is writing this is very simply to help people past what is assumed, and get people back on the right path. It is entirely too easy to misjudge a Thai lady who is genuinely looking for love, with a woman who may be working in the Naughty Nightlife. Mistakes happen on both sides when it comes to finding love. The term looking for love in the wrong places most definitely applies.

For the person that has never been to Thailand, if there is anything that he as heard is the women are beautiful and sex is plentiful in Thailand. Of this there is no denial. Perhaps when the Chinese came up with they saying “For every ten men that go to Thailand, eleven want to stay.” beautiful women and sex is what they had in mind. Sex is a big part of Thai culture, and the naughty nightlife is just the tip. When a man has more than one women under his wing, in the west it would be scandalous, however in Thailand it is bragging rights.

If you are looking for love, then the first bit of advise is stay away from the girls that work in the nightlife. A girl that is looking for love may mistakenly look for love there, but if she does, there is a bit of a reputation assumed or genuine that will forever follow her. If she has just started then there is a chance she will not have changed. But the change is fast in most cases a month is all it takes. Once she has her hand wrapped around a wad of 1000 Baht notes for the first time knowing it is hers, it is often the last push that sets her into the nightlife.

The problem is both the good girls and the naughty girls use the same services. Knowing who is who is the trick. There are plenty of do it yourself ways to help identify on line what the girl is like, and we will cover that as this series continues. We will help you to identify potential red flags, and when it is generally OK to throttle up.

  1. Mike Hunt says:

Lots of stereotypes here. Not all Thai women are stunningly attractive, as you say. Lots of the younger generation are quite untoned and fat thanks to the likes of KFC, McDonalds and Swensens. Also you can often see foreigners with some pretty ugly women in areas like Patong, Pattaya, etc.

Some women are good looking, no doubt, but I wouldn’t say that is that much more than the women in the major cities of the world. Unless you are only into SE Asian & Thai looks. Different strokes for different folks.

  2. I would have to agree with Mike here. To say that women (which is what you are saying with that comment) like Kathy Ireland, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen, Shiraz Tal, Olga Kurylenko, and Claudia Schiffer amoung thousands of other beautiful women would only be a “5” in Thailand when they are clearly “10” in the West implies to me you are a relative newbie to Thailand and still in your honeymoon phase.
Combine this with your blind passion for everything yellow and against everything red also shows to me your newbie status with Thailand and not understanding the underlying flaws associated with the Non-democratic yellow shirts as well. Both sides have some serious flaws and the fact that both parties are out their protecting their selfish needs will continue to hold Thailand back for a long time.

  3. John Williams says:

    Hi Joe,
The women from the west you spoke about are the exception and not the rule. That is why you know their names and they make so much money. If they were not spectacular they would be just another face in the crowd. A friend told me a month or so ago that he sat in a coffee shop in a mall during Black Friday in New York. He was just doing some eye candy shopping. After he finished his third cup he still had not spotted anything he would write home about. In fact most were overweight and lacked any charm. So a good challenge for you would be to find 3 women from the west who’s cumulative weight does not exceed 400 pounds.

  4. John,
If you, your friend, or I would not write home about the women your friend spotted while drinking his coffee, then I think it would be safe to assume none of us would call them a “10”! Is that a safe assumption?

So when I look at the article and read that women who would be classified as a 10 in the West would only be a 5 in Asia, I have to laugh. I was born in Asia, have spent half of my life living and working throughout Asia and my slant is towards Asian women, but I am not going to be so naive nor ignorant to say that a woman classified as a 10 in the west would only be a 5 in Asia. That is a ridiculous claim.

Rather a more legitimate claim is that you will find a higher percentage of attractive women in Asia as opposed to the West which is exactly what your response implies. I would agree with that 100%.

I have seen so many men come to Thailand (or other parts of Asia) that are complete putty in the hands of Thai women that it is actually hilarious. It seems like it takes about 3 years for the “honeymoon” feeling to wear off before they are able to l”ook underneath the covers a bit.”

  5. Hi Richard, I see your point and know where you are going with this article. However, we cannot make sweeping generalisations – therefore I agree with some of the comments made by Mike and Joe. As a former social worker, I was taught to never ever label people. Remember that ‘labels’ are for products not humans. You write quite well, but please try to be more specific and therefore, you will not be deemed as a sexist. Judging people by marks out of 10 is OK in an Olympic event, but this is very different. There are beautiful, average and ugly people in every country, you should bear that in mind. Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder… In the naughty nightlife, beauty often lies in the eye of the beer-holder! My personal opinion is that some Thai women are the most beautiful I have ever seen in my life.

  6. I don’t know Dave, ever since the 1979 movie “10” with Bo Derek that is how men have been sorting things out on woman’s looks. Not politically correct but it works for me.
