  • The Burma nuclear threat

Posted on December 18, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

There is mounting and significant evidence that inaction by ASEAN to sort Burma out has allowed a monster to hatch. Being nice to bad countries is worse than doing something about them, and such a situation is emerging in Southeast Asia. Continue reading → Post ID 11550

  • Burma the ASEAN black sheep

Posted on November 10, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

It is very unfortunate for ASEAN that Burma is part of their family. There is no polite way to put it other than ASEAN will never have the needed global respect with Burma acting like it does. Continue reading → Post ID 11550

  • Hunting for Red Shirts in October

Posted on November 1, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

For what it is worth, it is a bit difficult to assess the sincerity of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen when it comes to hunting down Red Shirt fugitives in Cambodia. There clearly is a significant double edge sword in this, and no matter what way Hun Sen moves, they eyes of the world will be watching. Continue reading → Post ID 11550

  • The Thaksin quits Cambodia ruse

Posted on October 14, 2010 12:00 am by Richard

The more you read the news of recent days, the more you can not help but wonder if Thaksin’s parting of ways with Cambodia was just a tactical move. With suddenly growing tension between Thailand and Cambodia over the alleged training of Thai assassins on Cambodian soil, one can not help but sit back and ask if Thaksin pulled a fast one on Prime Minister Abhisit. • The elections that wont be

Posted on August 15, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

There are few people in the world that think the up coming November elections in Burma will be elections. For the most part it is an exercise to simply take some of the heat off the junta by mimicking something that resembles an election. Continue reading → Post ID 11550

Posted on April 17, 2010 12:00 am by Richard

As predicted the Thai people are growing impatient with the Red Shirts and are starting to take matters into their own hands. Although there demonstrations will be several Kilometers away, it does give a target for the Red Shirts to exploit. Continue reading → Post ID 11550

  • Hun Sen the new bad guy

Posted on November 17, 2009 12:01 am by Richard

Prior to the very recent uprising between Cambodia and Thailand over Thaksin Shinawatra, it was a bit of a toss about Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. But now seeing that he appears to be ignoring his own Constitution to make political attacks in Thailand as well as ignoring international standards pertaining to extradition, it is now obvious he prefers the shadows to the light. Posted on November 9, 2009 12:01 am by Richard

With all the uproar of Cambodia deciding to dance with the Convicted fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra, the start of the fallout for Cambodia is just being realized. By signing on with Thaksin, they have now caused a distasteful gaze from every country that has rejected Thaksin an entry visa, and at last count that is most of them. • Thailand at war not politics

Posted on August 24, 2009 12:01 am by Richard

If you step back far enough to see the time line of events in Thailand starting from December 31, 2006 to today, you will see what looks like war with sporadic battles with death and bloodshed, and not simple disagreements between two political parties. So is there any wonder why other countries and major companies have cold feet about investments in Thailand. Continue reading → Post ID 11550

  • Burma’s actions strengthen Aung San Suu Kyi

Posted on August 20, 2009 12:01 am by Richard

Because of a change in the formula, now the more the junta in Burma tries to keep Aung San Suu Kyi out of the picture, the stronger she becomes. The change in the formula will simply make it more difficult to let other world news upstage Burma. Continue reading → Post ID 11550

Posted on July 2, 2009 12:01 am by Richard

    Pandora's box

Looking at the Preah Vihear temple issue between Thailand and Cambodia, it becomes increasingly clear the issue can not be resolved without outside help. The issue is so charged even with outside help the outcome may be rejected. There is way too much pride, patriotism and raw emotions standing in the way of acceptable closure to all sides.
