  • Burma or Myanmar

Posted on February 25, 2013 12:04 am by Richard

Up until recently it was not that hard to know what to call that plot of land just west of Thailand. If you had respect for the Junta that renamed it from Burma to Myanmar, you called it whatever they wanted to call it. If you did not have respect for the Junta you simply called it Burma. But now that democracy is once again sprouting in that plot of land just to the west of Thailand, there is now some dispute as what to call it. Continue reading → Post ID 14197

  • Thaksin Shinawatra assassination attempt a plural reality

Posted on November 7, 2012 12:02 am by Richard

Reading in the news about an alleged assassination plot of Thaksin Shinawatra is not truly surprising. In fact it is a daily reality Thaksin must face if he ever were to set foot in Thailand again. Painting a picture that he is loved, and efforts to bring him home by his supporters ignores the fact that every person that does not like Thaksin has entertained the thought of killing him at one point or another. • 2010 year in review

Posted on December 30, 2010 12:00 am by Richard

It is that time of year again to take a look back at what happened and who was effected most by what. Unfortunately much of what happened in 2010 will be repeated in the future. Continue reading → Post ID 14197

  • The Burma nuclear threat

Posted on December 18, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

There is mounting and significant evidence that inaction by ASEAN to sort Burma out has allowed a monster to hatch. Being nice to bad countries is worse than doing something about them, and such a situation is emerging in Southeast Asia. Continue reading → Post ID 14197

  • WikiLeaks good or bad Part 2

Posted on December 2, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

As we continue to look at what can be defined as full frontal nudity of the US Government, it is difficult to keep from wondering what the eventual fallout will be. When there are candid conversations with the US government and government ‘x’ about government ‘y’ being exposed, the possibility of increased tension between ‘x’ and ‘y’ is a genuine reality. On the other hand it also may be seen as a call to get your head out of your ass for government ‘y’! Continue reading → Post ID 14197

  • The Burma North Korea connection

Posted on November 27, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

Some place very far down the list of countries, way past nice, way past acceptable, and in the middle of unstable and dangerous you will find North Korea. Some place else on that list you will find Burma listed as well. But with a recently discovered nuclear connection between the two countries, there are some map changing ramifications in the making. • Big brother wants wikiLeaks

Posted on November 22, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

In what looks to unfold with all the grace and elegance of a ‘B’ movie, Big brother is clearly trying to plug the leak in a sexual way. For what it is worth, this one is worth watching simply because any fallacy a person may have about governments and how unalike they truly are will quickly be dispelled. • Burma’s elected leader freed by junta

Posted on November 15, 2010 12:00 am by Richard

In what clearly looks to be throwing a bone at the dogs of democracy, Burma’s junta has released Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest that was keeping her from taking office. But after looking at the first 24 hours of her release, it is starting to look like it was only a delay and the people of Burma are already falling in line behind her. • Burma the ASEAN black sheep

Posted on November 10, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

It is very unfortunate for ASEAN that Burma is part of their family. There is no polite way to put it other than ASEAN will never have the needed global respect with Burma acting like it does. Continue reading → Post ID 14197

Posted on October 10, 2010 12:01 am by Richard

It is not often a country puts on a show that resembles an irate husband about ready to give his wife a good beating. But that in fact is what China did when it was announced that someone they had locked up for self serving reasons just was awarded the world’s most prestigious award being the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize, and that award was tied to the reason the person was locked up. • The elections that wont be

Posted on August 15, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

There are few people in the world that think the up coming November elections in Burma will be elections. For the most part it is an exercise to simply take some of the heat off the junta by mimicking something that resembles an election. Continue reading → Post ID 14197

  • Thaksin’s score Part 3

Posted on July 23, 2010 12:02 am by Richard

As the Thaksin on the run saga continues and he wears out his welcome country after country, his world is getting smaller and smaller. It would seem that countries that have a low number Thaksin is banned from entry. The ones he manages to sneak into quickly toss him out or encourage him to leave by not allowing him to launch political attacks from their soil. Sooner or later he may end up in Haiti as they could use his money big time. Continue reading → Post ID 14197

So as Thaksin’s globe hopping continues, you begin to see some interesting patterns shaping up. He has no place he can call home, and where he stays he is constantly looking over his shoulder as well as having a huge negative cash flow to buy that stay out of jail insurance.
