  • Thailand’s rapidly changing culture Part 5

Posted on September 9, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Other changes were being seen as well as even some Thai monks were being seduced off the path of monkhood. This however for the most part is still seen as scandalous as Thais have not forgotten their roots, but simply see it as use as needed. If a Thai goes upcountry they emulate the behavior of their parents and people in their village. So that says the behavior seen in the urban areas is much about emulation to fit in as well. • Thailand moving forward with new Constitution

Posted on August 19, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Connecting the Dots has been silent on Thai politics for some time. The reason for this is since the 2014 Coup, what has been going on in Thailand politically has been 100% a Thai thing. So we were very content to make it a spectator event as there was things to be learned from it. But now that the Thai people have had had their first say about things in over two years, we thought it would be a good time to see what they said. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Mention Thaksin and anxiety spikes

Posted on January 4, 2016 12:02 am by Richard

Despite all the efforts to bring calm to Thailand’s political conflict, just the mention of Thaksin Shinawatra and anxiety levels spike. Unfortunately that means that despite all the efforts to bring a lasting political calm, this anxiety reaction means that whatever calm is being seen is not genuine, and political unrest is only being repressed. • Yingluck’s dance with the devil

Posted on January 14, 2015 12:02 am by Richard

When you do things for Thaksin Shinawatra being his kin or not, you almost always find yourself getting the short and nasty end of the stick while he is untouched. Add to that he is also unconcerned about your well being and sees you is a tool for his own agenda. This is a classic signature of Thaksin to use people for his own benefit and discard them when they are no longer useful. Now Yingluck must face the music for failing to stop a rice pledging scheme that was so corrupt, it nearly caused Thailand to go bankrupt. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Thaksin and Red Shirts waiting for first opportunity to resume

Posted on October 15, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Subtle hints of Thaksin working behind the scenes to resume where he left off are finding their way into the news. The reports are increasing in frequency and gradually taking on a more political tone. The only thing that is keeping Thaksin’s volume down is Martial Law, and that is entirely the reason Martial law is being kept in place. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Corrupt Thais plan counter move against reform

Posted on July 25, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Although it has not been in the news, there is plenty of back room talk amongst corrupt Thai politicians as to how to counter the military’s push to clean up Thailand’s corruption. Much of their hopes are pinned on the mandatory retirement of the Coup leading General in a few months. However that too seems to be questionable in that signs point to the General picking up the ball as the interim Prime Minister once things get to the next step. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Layers of laws to stop Thaksin Part 2

Posted on June 3, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

After Thaksin and his supporters got a good taste of the new laws designed to stop them from being corrupt and self serving, they made the decision people who are not willing to change make. That decision was to do their best to remove or get around the laws that are in their way. The thought of complying with the law obviously never entered their mind. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Layers of laws to stop Thaksin Part 1

Posted on June 2, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

There are not that many people in the world who can motivate the creation of laws. Each law that is considered has an underlying goal of stopping bad and promoting good, and the laws often deal with events that could be avoided or limited. But to have laws designed to stop a specific person’s self serving ambition at the expense of all others, says a lot about the person they are trying to stop. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Thailand’s CAPO becoming part of the problem

Posted on May 20, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

In what is becoming a joke of an emergency management body, the Center of Administration for Peace and Order (CAPO) has clearly become an attack tool of a Government that has lost it’s legitimacy to govern Thailand. The list of eye rolling announcements from CAPO has removed nearly all the respect it had when it was first formed. Coupled with ego driven temper tantrums from CAPO upper management, it clearly calls for a bag of popcorn to watch the antics unfold. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Thaksin pushing for civil war to bypass laws

Posted on April 7, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

The distorted rhetoric coming from Thaksin’s Red Shirts is becoming troublesome as there is a consistent push towards civil war. All the pieces of play are coming into place including threats from the Pheu Thai Party (PTP) that there will be unrest if the wheels of justice are allowed to turn. Collectively this all fits the thinking of a man obsessed and who will stop at nothing to meet his goals. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

Posted on April 3, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

When you strip away the names and personalities from Thailand’s political unrest, you are simply left with the un-flavored reality of what the unrest is all about. It all comes down to corruption bleeding away tax revenues that result in Thailand and the Thai people never having the money needed to get ahead. Continue reading → Post ID 15830

  • Pheu Thai Party starts blame game

Posted on March 26, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

When someone gives you advise and you don’t take it, and an ‘I told you so’ situation is created, blaming the person who gave you the advise is totally absurd. But apparently the Pheu Thai Party (PTP) does not see it that way, and they look to place the full blame for failure on the very people that advised against proceeding. • Thaksin’s proxy governments are slow learners

Posted on March 19, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

The behavior of Pheu Thai Party (PTP) and the People Power Party (PPP) are similar in a lot of ways. Both are/were focused on helping Thaksin Shinawatra. Also both are/were arrogant. But perhaps the most important and most similar is their same disrespect or inability to stay within the law and to respect the authority given to others in the separation of powers built into the Constitution. • Thailand’s evolved Red Shirts Part 5

Posted on March 18, 2014 12:02 am by Richard

Once the Government’s rice pledging scheme started to fall apart, the Red Shirts showed yet another side of themselves. That new side was to attack rice farmers that were once Red Shirt and Government supporters that had switched sides and became untrusting and anti Government. The reason for the switch was because they were not paid by the Government and now were flat broke and destitute. The Red Shirts did not care that the rice farmers were victims of the Government’s corruption, they simply victimized them again for abandoning support for the Government.
